About The Position

In your capacity as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, you will provide patient treatment services consistent with your scope of practice as a licensed and board-certified PMHNP, applicable laws, and the Company’s clinical policies and procedures. Duties include, without limitation, timely documentation of all clinical services, including patient records, treatment notes, and any additional documentation required for billing, compliance, or credentialing purposes. You will be expected to comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including New York State licensing requirements, as well as internal clinical protocols. This role also requires effective coordination with therapists, clients, and administrative staff to ensure that services are delivered smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted license and registration as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in New York State
  • Board certified as PMHNP with American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Current, unrestricted DEA registration
  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited PMHNP program
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate care across a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and empathy
  • Proficiency with EHR systems (Practice Fusion or AdvancedMD preferred), Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and behavioral health care regulations
  • Completion of New York State–mandated infection control and child abuse identification training (if applicable)

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with fewer than 3,600 hours of practice will be required to maintain a collaborative agreement with a supervising psychiatrist, consistent with New York State law
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric/behavioral health preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and individualized treatment plans for patients across the lifespan
  • Prescribe and manage medications consistent with the scope of practice, New York State laws, and company policies
  • Maintain DEA registration and abide by DEA and state laws for prescribing controlled substances
  • Deliver psychotherapy or supportive counseling interventions when appropriate
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and other providers to ensure continuity of care
  • Complete timely, accurate, and thorough documentation of all clinical encounters in the EHR
  • Maintain treatment notes, medication records, progress reports, and all documentation required for billing, compliance, and credentialing
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA, state and federal laws, and internal clinical policies
  • Participate in audits, quality assurance initiatives, and chart reviews as required
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and self-management strategies
  • Collaborate with administrative staff to coordinate scheduling, follow-ups, and patient communication
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding medication management and treatment-related questions
  • Facilitate intake processes as needed, ensuring completeness of required documentation before services begin
  • Partner with therapists, medical staff, and administrative personnel to support effective caseload management and patient care delivery
  • Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Communicate important updates and reminders regarding patient care, documentation deadlines, and scheduling changes
