Blackbird Health is a clinician-founded, owned, and operated organization dedicated to providing the best possible care for children by building the best possible team. We offer virtual and in-person mental health services across Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New Jersey, with expansion into new markets planned for 2026. Our approach focuses on the whole child, examining the interplay of brain, body, and behavior to address the root causes of challenges. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at Blackbird Health, you will be instrumental in delivering comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and medication management for children, adolescents, and young adults. You will foster strong patient connections to encourage treatment engagement, dedicating sufficient time to understand patient needs, educate them on care options, and provide continuous support. Your role will involve ensuring patients achieve their care goals and maintaining their safety. Working within an interdisciplinary team, you will contribute significantly to the well-being of young patients and their families. This hybrid role requires a commitment of at least 10 hours per week.

Requirements

Active PMHNP license in Pennsylvania
A minimum of 2 years experience working independently in the role of a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner
A minimum of 1 year experience working with children, adolescents or young adults under any nursing license
Board Certification by ANCC or AANP (PMHNP-BC)
DEA license and State Prescriptive Authority License
Autonomous Practice Status
Computer, phone and high speed internet
Experience with Google Suite, EHR systems and tech knowledge
Commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week.
1 day minimum onsite at our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania clinic.

Responsibilities

Provide Comprehensive Psychiatric Care: Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnoses for children, adolescents, and young adults.
Develop personalized treatment plans and provide medication management that addresses the unique needs of each patient.
Build Meaningful Therapeutic Relationships: Spend the necessary time with patients and families to truly understand their experiences, educate them about treatment options, and provide ongoing support.
Build connection and trust that keeps patients engaged in their care journey.
Drive Patient Progress & Safety: Monitor patient progress against care goals, adjusting treatment plans as needed to ensure positive outcomes.
Take the necessary steps to keep patients safe, intervening proactively when concerns arise.
Collaborate for Integrated Care: Work closely with therapists and other healthcare professionals to create integrated treatment plans that address the whole child.
Communicate and engage with families when appropriate to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
Educate & Empower Families: Provide consultation and education to patients and their families, helping them understand diagnoses, treatment options, and how to support their child's mental health journey.
Ensure Clinical Excellence & Compliance: Oversee diagnostic testing including digital and lab results.
Partner with administrative team to handle refills, prior authorizations, records, and rescheduling.
Maintain thorough, HIPAA-compliant patient records and documentation.
