About The Position

Assist with the psychiatric assessment, medical assessment, and ongoing psychiatric management of youth enrolled in Hillside’s PRTF/Residential and Partial Hospitalization Program. Duties will be performed under an approved Advanced Registered Nurse Protocol (ARPN).

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, PMHNP specialty
  • Current licensure
  • One to three years experience working with children and adolescents.
  • Must have physical performed upon hire and then annually.
  • Some tasks may require exposure to blood, tissue or bodily fluids.
  • Must not have a record of felony or misdemeanor convictions.

  • The ability to provide a range of brief, focused prevention, treatment and recovery services, as well as longer-term treatment and support for consumers with persistent illnesses.
  • The ability to provide services that are relevant to the culture of the consumer and their family.
  • The ability to assess and continually improve the services delivered as an individual provider and as an inter-professional team.

Responsibilities

  • Complete admission intake assessments on assigned patients.
  • Provide psychiatric care (in consultation with the child’s attending physician) and corresponding documentation to youth in assigned program/unit.
  • Provide input for and/or participate in treatment planning meetings on assigned clients.
  • Timely and accurate entry of notes and diagnoses to ensure billing accuracy.
  • Participate in weekly rounds on assigned treatment units.
  • Provide ‘after-hours’ call coverage for psychiatric emergencies as assigned– typically 10-15 days/ per month.
  • Provide psychiatric coverage to patients enrolled in Hillside’s residential or PHP programs when their attending provider is on leave is not available/on leave.
  • Participate in all assigned trainings, staff meetings, supervision, and consultation.
  • Understand the developmental milestones of children and adolescents.
