About The Position

Anuvia Prevention & Recovery Center is seeking a full-time, salary/exempt Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for their on-site Main Campus in Charlotte, NC. This role is within the Clinical Outpatient department and focuses on Psychiatric Care, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), and Integrated Behavioral Health. The PMHNP will serve adolescents (ages 5+) and adults, providing integrated care that addresses physical health, mental health, and substance use recovery. The primary responsibilities include assessing, monitoring, and treating psychiatric conditions and providing MAT for individuals with substance use disorders. The position reports to the Chief Clinical Officer.

Requirements

• Completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program.
• Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in North Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing and NC Board of Medical Examiners, with prescription privilege from the NC Board of Pharmacy.
• Two or more years of related clinical experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Read, analyze, and interpret clinical, professional, technical, and governmental documents.
• Write clinical notes, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, families, clinicians, and community partners.
• Compute basic mathematical skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Includes clinical dosing calculations.
• Apply clinical judgment and structured problem-solving to interpret patient presentation, resolve diagnostic exceptions, and design treatment plans in situations where limited standardization exists.
• Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures — document management, records retention, forms design, correspondence workflows, and healthcare office procedures and terminology.
• General use of personal computers, printers, and copiers.
• Ability to document activity in the Electronic Health Records system.
• MS Office applications and other software required of the position.
• NC Board of Nursing + NC Board of Medical Examiners approval.
• NC Board of Pharmacy prescription privilege.
• Valid NC or SC Driver's License required.

Nice To Haves

• PMHNP Certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 3 years).
• DEA preferred.
• DEA license and/or PMHNP Certification preferred, or the ability to obtain within three years.
• Substance use disorder / MAT experience preferred.
• Adolescent (ages 5+) and adult mental health experience preferred.
• DEA license preferred (or within 3 years).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, conduct, and prescribe medications for clients presenting with psychiatric mental health and/or substance use disorder conditions.
• Assess adolescent clients ages 5+ and adult clients, developing treatment plans that fit each person's developmental stage and clinical need.
• Perform client histories and physicals, risk-factor assessments, and order therapeutic and diagnostic tests.
• Obtain medical history and perform physical examinations to establish a baseline regarding health status and progress of consumers.
• Provide emergency psychiatric services, including physical and psychosocial examinations.
• Prescribe necessary medications, treatments, and diagnostic tests in accordance with Anuvia policy, formulary, and relevant regulations of the State.
• Deliver Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders, including buprenorphine/Suboxone, naltrexone/Vivitrol, and (where applicable) methadone.
• Manage and ensure all medication and pharmacotherapy work is compliant with NC Medical Board rules and regulations, service definitions, and DEA requirements.
• Provide on-call services as needed.
• Provide integrated care that considers physical health, mental health, and substance use recovery together.
• Consult with physicians on cases beyond the scope of qualification of a PMHNP.
• Collaborate with therapists and counselors to ensure a comprehensive, holistic treatment approach.
• Ensure smooth communication with other health professionals for effective clinical service delivery.
• Provide consultation to the clinic's nursing and medical staff to enhance overall quality service delivery.
• Document services in the client record; put all relevant client data in medical records.
• Review and sign service plans and person-centered plans for medical necessity.
• Develop appropriate treatment plans and provide effective management of client care with proper evaluation.
• Formulate, execute, and review healthcare education delivered to clients and families.
