About The Position

Backpack Healthcare is seeking a part-time Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for autonomous practice in a fully remote model. This role is designed for clinicians who desire flexibility and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children, teens, and young adults. The position offers a competitive fee-for-service per session pay and requires availability in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Clinicians will deliver high-quality psychiatric care from home with full operational and clinical support, building a consistent caseload without the demands of a full-time schedule. Requirements

• Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited PMHNP program
• Active, unrestricted Virginia PMHNP license & DEA
• Board Certification (PMHNP-BC)
• Experience with or passion for working with youth and families
• Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
• Comfort practicing in a telehealth environment
• Must be able to practice independent without MD Collaboration

Nice To Haves

• Multi-state or compact preferred license

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations via telehealth
• Formulate accurate, evidence-based diagnoses
• Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with families
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications
• Monitor effectiveness and adjust treatment as needed
• Provide brief supportive therapy and psychoeducation
• Partner with therapists and care teams to ensure coordinated treatment
• Participate in interdisciplinary case consultations
• Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the EHR
• Uphold all ethical and professional standards
