About The Position

Job Summary and Responsibilities The provider is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with behavioral health disorders in an outpatient setting including in-person and telehealth. Description of Primary Responsibilities: Analyze and evaluate patient data and tests or examination findings to diagnose the nature and extent of behavioral health disorders. Prescribe, direct, and administer medications to treat behavioral health, emotional, or behavioral disorders. Examine or conduct laboratory or diagnostic tests on patients to provide information on general physical conditions and behavioral health disorders. Advise and inform guardians, relatives, and significant others of patients' conditions and treatment, as needed. Design individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments. Collaborate with other HCCH professionals (therapists, psychologists, case managers, and primary care team) to discuss individual patient treatment plans and progress. Maintain patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained from patients, relatives, and other professionals. Serve on committees to promote and maintain community behavioral health services and delivery systems. Builds a positive work environment by working cooperatively within the department and with other areas through teamwork, interpersonal skills, and personal improvement/initiative.

Requirements

  • Outstanding communication skills with behavioral health staff and members of the community.
  • Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of modern psychiatric medicine.
  • General knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to Community Health Centers.
  • Experience with Telehealth
  • Medical degree from an accredited University or appropriate training as a PMHNP
  • Board Certified/ Board Eligible Behavioral Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Currently licensed (or license-eligible) to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina.
