Psychiatric Counselor, DAS
About The Position
Devereux/TCV Community Services is hiring a Full-Time Diversion & Acute Stabilization (DAS) Psychiatric Counselor. This role involves working with dedicated professionals to improve the lives of individuals with mental health and other disabilities. The ideal candidate will be dedicated, compassionate, and responsible, joining a treatment team that serves adults with behavioral health challenges. Responsibilities include encouraging individuals to meet their recovery goals, monitoring their well-being, using de-escalation techniques, developing strategies for wellness and independence, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in social/human services, or related field, required.
- 18 years of age or older required.
- Agree to a PA state criminal history, child abuse record and FBI Clearance.
- Agree to a pre-employment drug screening, one-step TB and physical.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience working in social services with adults with behavioral health disorders, highly preferred.
- Valid driver's license
Responsibilities
- Encourage individuals to meet their recovery goals, i.e., actively participate in treatment and therapeutic activities to enhance their lives.
- Monitor individuals’ physical and emotional well-being, use de-escalation and emergency techniques, when necessary.
- Develop and teach strategies to promote wellness and independence.
- Collaborate with the treatment team including but not limited to psychiatrist, therapist, nurses and service coordinators.
