About The Position

We at Fairview are looking for a dedicated Psychiatric Associate to join the hardworking Riverside side location on the University of Minnesota Campus! At our Child and Adolescent Intensive Treatment Center unit, we're looking for dedicated individuals to join our dynamic team in providing mental health support for children and adolescents aged 4-18. We're committed to fostering therapeutic engagement through group activities, Occupational Therapy (OT), Therapeutic Recreation (TR), and other therapeutic groups to aid in our young patients' recovery journey. Whether they arrive subdued and depressed or in a state of decompensation and mania, we maintain strict safety guidelines to ensure their well-being. We also provide care to many children with autism and ASD. This can be an intense unit. This role is approved for 56 hours, every two weeks on the evening shift, working 8-hour shifts, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM and every other weekend with a variable schedule. This position is SEIU benefit eligible. The Psychiatric Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse so that goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc, Red Cross)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Arts in Human Services Field
  • Experience working with behavioral patients

Responsibilities

  • Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation.
  • Conducts room, belonging and unit searches.
  • Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained.
  • Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration.
  • Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan:
  • Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and interventions.
  • Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan.
  • Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy.
  • Participates in the treatment team’s mission, goals and plans:
  • Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team.
  • Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, thorough, and professional manner.
  • Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures.
