About The Position

Boys & Girls Village provides a wide array of behavioral health programming, including a therapeutic K-12 school, community programs and substance use services, juvenile justice services as well as others. Most programs involve youth with significant behavioral, psychiatric and trauma related issues. The medical staff comprised of psychiatrists, APRN, and nursing staff provide a strength-based approach to evaluations, medication management, crisis assessments and operate within the context of a team. The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) serves as the treating prescriber, clinical consultant for Boys & Girls Village which require psychiatric involvement or oversight. Assignments are determined by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and are consistent with the needs, design, and goals of the identified programs. Services may be provided in community-based settings, on the Milford Campus, or remotely depending on program and operational needs. This position reports directly to the CMO and in collaboration with other BGV psychiatric staff and multidisciplinary treatment teams.

Requirements

• Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license
• Prescriber authority
• Experience in psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and crisis assessments
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams
• Proficiency in electronic health records
• Knowledge of accepted standards of care and applicable regulations for prescribing and monitoring medications
• Experience serving as a liaison with various community providers

Responsibilities

• Serves as the treating prescriber, clinical consultant, for the program assigned, and provides those services in coordination with Program Managers/Coordinators and the Directors
• Completes admission psychiatric evaluations, medication management, crisis evaluations and risk assessments of identified cases.
• Develops, implements, and monitors psychiatric treatment plans in collaboration with the treatment team
• Participates in routine case reviews, treatment team meetings, and clinical rounds.
• Provides crisis consultation in person during scheduled hours, including in-person and remote consultation as clinically appropriate
• Prescribe, authorize and monitor medications in accordance with accepted standards of care and applicable regulations
• Maintain timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation in the electronic health record
• Participates with development of program policies, procedures and guidelines as requested.
• Contributes to Quality Assurance (QA), Program and Risk Management, and performance improvement activities as assigned.
• Serve as a liaison with primary care providers, hospitals, psychiatrists, referring agencies, schools and other community providers.
• Provides education and training to staff around psychiatric diagnosis, medications, trauma-informed care, and other behavioral health topics.
• Provide clinical coverage for assigned programs, including community-based programs and other campus programs as well as remote coverage when needed.
• May provide cross-coverage for other BGV programs based on client needs, staffing requirements, or agency priorities.
• Carries out other job-related duties as necessary.
