About The Position

The ELMHS (East Louisiana Mental Health System) is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and positive individual to join their team as a Psych Aide 1 or Psych Aide 2. ELMHS is dedicated to providing mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and consultation for adults. Their programs encompass inpatient interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluations, care, custody, and aftercare, as well as intermediate and long-term psychiatric care, all in coordination with Louisiana's total system of care.

• No experience or training required.

• Experience as a Psych Aide 2 may be preferred for certain roles.

Responsibilities

• Attend, report, and accept patient care assignments for the assigned shift.
• Maintain a therapeutic environment, correctly identify patient growth and development stage, and communicate according to their level of understanding.
• Ensure patient safety and identify potential or real safety hazards, corresponding to the individual patient's stage of growth and development.
• Conduct patient groups under the direction of RN staff and document patient participation.
• Participate in treatment team staffing, provide nursing input, and notify appropriate personnel when patient conditions or behaviors change.
• Perform routine nursing duties according to the level of competency and within licensure guidelines, documenting findings or patient responses accurately and timely.
• Maintain open communication with supervisors.
• Report accidents and injuries according to policy and procedure.
• Participate willingly in investigations and provide incident reports when appropriate.
• Maintain a current and unencumbered motor vehicle license.
