About The Position

Our Psychiatric Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship is designed for newly graduated nurse practitioners and physician assistants seeking clinical experience in psychiatry, as well as APPs with no psychiatric background who want to transition to psychiatric specialty care. The psychiatric APP fellowship is a 12-month post-graduate, precepted training program located at Unity Center for Behavioral Health. Fellows will be employees of OHSU and credentialed at Legacy Health, and will be embedded with an advanced team of dedicated, skilled OHSU and Legacy staff promoting outstanding behavioral health care. The duties of this position include: Fellows will complete three clinical rotations, during which they will provide behavioral health care with a preceptor, in each of the following service lines at Unity Center for Behavioral Health: Psychiatric Emergency Service [PES], Emergency Substance Use Disorder Unit [E-SUD], and Adult Inpatient Psychiatry. In addition, fellows will engage in once weekly didactics throughout the program.

Requirements

• Be a U.S. citizen or legally able to work in the U.S.
• Have completed an accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program.
• Have unencumbered licensure as either a physician assistant with the Oregon Medical Board, or a nurse practitioner with the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
• Have national board certification as either a physician assistant from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants by the start of the program OR Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from a nationally accredited organization.
• Eligible for DEA licensure.
• BLS/ACLS certified.

Responsibilities

• Provide behavioral health care with a preceptor in the Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES).
• Provide behavioral health care with a preceptor in the Emergency Substance Use Disorder Unit (E-SUD).
• Provide behavioral health care with a preceptor in Adult Inpatient Psychiatry.
• Engage in once weekly didactics throughout the program.
