About The Position

Davis Behavioral Health (DBH) is seeking Psych Tech candidates to join the clinical teams at the Crisis Recovery Unit (CRU) and the Davis County Receiving Center (RC). The CRU is an adult residential mental health facility operating 24/7, while the RC provides short-term crisis resolution as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or incarceration. Psych Techs are essential front-line staff who work directly with clients experiencing behavioral health crises. Their role involves individual engagement, milieu management, attending to client needs, providing supervision, de-escalating crises, collaborating with other service providers, and fostering a positive recovery environment. Active client engagement is a core expectation for all Psych Techs at DBH.

Requirements

  • High school graduation and one year of full-time employment in a related clerical field.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Must comply with Federal drug laws, including no use of medical marijuana.
  • Must be able to report for a drug screen within 24 hours of request.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working as a psych tech or in the social work industry is strongly preferred.
  • Microsoft Word and Outlook knowledge preferred.
  • Typing a net of 35-40 wpm preferred but not mandatory.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Regulate emotion, manage impulsivity, and assist clients in learning skills for success in their home and community.
  • Manage the milieu on the unit.
  • Take crisis calls.
  • Facilitate skills development groups.
  • Assist professional staff in group activities.
  • Assist clients in accomplishing treatment objectives as outlined by clinical staff.
  • Record behaviors and activities.
  • Ensure compliance with developed programs and individual treatment plans.
  • Act as a liaison between clients, family, and professional staff.
  • Provide monitoring of client's behaviors and consequences for clients as needed.
  • Provide supervision and structure for clients on site as well as off unit.
  • Drive a 15-passenger van and transport clients to meetings and approved off-unit activities.
  • Complete other duties as needed and assigned.
