About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a psychiatric nurse practitioner or psychiatric physician assistant to provide medical care for clients receiving substance use disorder and behavioral health treatment at Avenues Recovery Center at Eastern Shore, a 100-bed residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility in Maryland. The role involves developing individualized medical treatment plans, monitoring clients, managing medication, and providing care that stabilizes patients so they can participate fully in treatment. The clinician will coordinate with medical, clinical, and utilization review teams and maintain complete documentation of medical care.

Requirements

• Unrestricted PMH-NP or psychiatric PA-C certification valid in Maryland.
• Valid state medical license.
• Federal DEA certification.
• Strong observational and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong collaboration and multitasking skills.
• CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience in substance use disorder, psychiatry, or mental health.

Responsibilities

• Create individual medical care treatment plans and provide medical monitoring and medication management for each client throughout treatment.
• Provide quality medical care to stabilize patients and enable them to fully engage in treatment.
• Update pharmacy orders; create urine drug screen, medication, and laboratory orders; and review and address urine drug screen and laboratory results.
• Collaborate with medical, clinical, and utilization review teams to coordinate care.
• Maintain thorough documentation of medical interventions, consultations, and directives.
• Complete daily and weekly client appointment schedules in a timely and efficient manner.
