Provide crisis counseling and psychoeducation to physically and sexually abused or neglected children and their families including case management, as part of the multidisciplinary child protection team. This role involves accepting and triaging referrals, conducting crisis assessments (including suicide risk), evaluating patient status, completing social histories and psychosocial assessments, and triaging patients to appropriate services. The position also requires intervening with parents/caretakers, assessing parenting skills, participating in the hospital on-call system for crisis intervention, educating staff on psychosocial issues, and utilizing a theoretical framework for crisis intervention. The social worker will encourage positive communication among family members, recognize progress towards treatment goals, and complete medical record documentation promptly. They must remain knowledgeable about community resources and communicate with outside agencies to ensure continuity of care.
