Requirements

  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or Certified Chemical Dependance Associate Certification (CCDA); Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) preferred;
  • BLS Certification (AHA/ARC) required upon hire;
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • If Counselor Intern, Certified Recovery Peer Specialist, at a minimum, test ready with all class hours completed and registered with the Professional Certification Board, Inc., and the Division of Consumer Affairs;
  • Experience in writing and completing summaries for client reports;
  • Documentation skills for DAB and observations notes;
  • Knowledge of record keeping, monthly reporting and class load statistics; and
  • Proficient in Case Reporting and Community Resources

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide substance abuse services and education to clients and staff of the Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Program (OSAT).
  • Provide alcohol and substance abuse education in individual and group formats for chemically dependent clients.
  • Perform data collections that will be provided to the clinical team, substance abuse care management services, and ongoing assessment for program and clinic eligibility; monitor all aspects of clients’ adherence to treatment plan and when applicable referral source mandates, experienced in diverse methods of treatment modalities and treatment of SUD including approaches of Motivational Interviewing, Status of Change, ASAM PPC 2 and DSM Criteria for NJSAMS data entry, voucher compliance and monthly insurance review.
  • Knowledge of community resources that will enhance the client’s recovery process.
