About The Position

The plant PSM Coordinator will function as the liaison between the Corporate PSM Department and the plant’s refrigeration department, ensuring that the program is fully compliant with the OSHA 1910.119 PSM Standard. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure external areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and presentable manner.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year directly related experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA 1910.119 PSM Standard
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of basic Standard Operating Procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work fractions, ratios and percentages
  • Ability to solve problems effectively and efficiently through standard procedures
  • Ability to work independently and implement proper procedures as required
  • Ability to withstand routine exposure to cold temperatures
  • All employees are required to attend employee and safety orientation prior to performing the above duties.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that PHA and Compliance Audit recommendations are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Validate that annual visual inspections are done in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures and P&ID’s are maintained for all of the equipment in the system and that the operating procedures and P&ID’s are recertified annually.
  • Verify/write equipment specific LOTO procedures for all refrigeration equipment in the system.
  • Verify Hot Work, Line Break and Confined Space Entry paperwork is filled out and that proper procedures are followed.
  • Interview all contractors who will be working on or near the refrigeration system to ensure: a) That Corporate PSM or site safety manager has their contractor safety information, b) That all employees of the contractor that will be working on site have been through the Safety Department’s Contractors Safety training program, c) All welding certificates for that particular job are on file, and d) Weld examinations are scheduled for that particular job.
  • Initiate the Management of Change form.
  • When new equipment is installed, obtain a sketch of the installation to add to the P&ID’s.
  • Assist Operations with the development of the SOP’s and LOTO procedures for the new equipment.
  • Complete the Equipment Information sheet for the new equipment.
  • Tag all new valves, label all new pipe and label all new equipment.
  • Work with the Corporate PSM Department to update the Equipment List, SRV Data Sheet, Valve List and Inventory Calculation.
  • Ensure that the plant has u1a sheets for all new vessels.
  • Organize the Pre-Startup Safety walk-through meeting and fill out the Pre-Startup Safety Review paperwork to insure that the system has been installed in a safe manner and is ready to operate prior to startup.
  • Follow up on all outstanding issues.
  • Work with Corporate PSM Managers on Incident Investigations and follow up on all related recommendations.
  • Ensure Refrigeration Equipment PMs are implemented in SAP and all follow-up paperwork is documented.
  • Participate in any OSHA/EPA audits of PSM/RMP for the site.
  • Keep and file all PSM/RMP documentation in an organized manner.
