About The Position

Responsible for providing process safety expertise in support of the Hilcorp facilities in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.119 PSM & EPA RMP 40 CFR 68 federal and state regulations.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years minimum experience in process or comparable field.
  • Familiarity with OSHA PSM 29 CFR 1910.119 and EPA RMP 40 CFR 68, and other applicable regulations.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Self-motivated, hard-working team player who pays attention to details and can interpret operational needs to develop integrated, creative solutions to process safety issues.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  • Exceptional ability at successful project management.
  • Proficient in organization and data management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, professional and solutions-oriented approach with employees, coworkers, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Demonstrate that s/he can take ownership of the job responsibilities and hold themselves accountable for their successful completion.
  • Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years minimum experience in process safety in oil & gas industry, preferred.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Safety, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Sharepoint, PHAPro, PHAST

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain the site Process Safety Management (PSM) program in compliance with applicable regulations such as OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119.
  • Track and manage action items resulting from audits, incident investigations, and hazard analyses.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) processes by reviewing technical and safety impacts of proposed changes.
  • Act as primary owner of MOC tool and process.
  • Coordinate pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR) for new or modified processes.
  • Collaborate with training teams to ensure employees receive required process safety training.
  • Manage and maintain Mechanical Integrity programs and best practices for REGAGEPs.
  • Maintain process safety information (PSI), including P&IDs, operating procedures, chemical inventories, and equipment documentation.
  • Provide visible leadership and direction in process safety, both in the office and in the field.
  • Demonstrate clear examples of adherence to the company values of Integrity, Urgency, Innovation, Ownership, and Alignment, especially within the context of the process safety discipline.
  • Work with HEC Integrity group L48 on Risk Management Plan submissions on EPA’s CDX Website.
  • Perform and lead engineering to address PHA and PSM Audit action items.
  • Conducts internal Compliance Audits and oversees external Process Safety audits as needed.
  • Manages identified gaps, findings, and recommendations to closure.
  • Regularly interact with Asset Teams to understand impacts to operations, ensure programs and processes are aligned, communicate key metrics and demonstrate value.
  • Responsible for preparation of annual budgets, cost tracking and forecasting, scope management, and schedule for projects related to primary scope of work.
  • Hold self and others accountable for accomplishing tasks on time and budget.
  • Demonstrate value to operations and asset team personnel.
  • Maintain a service-oriented attitude to complete work scope in a manner that supports asset team goals and achieves effective compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to manage capital or expense projects with prompt deadlines and stay in budget.
  • Work across multiple teams to identify opportunities for common solutions or tools, and communicate/understand impacts to adjacent programs and processes.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
  • Other duties as directed by management.
