About The Position

Saint George School is seeking a School Psychologist to promote the emotional well-being, mental health, and socio-emotional development of students. This role provides preventive, interventional, and formative support, ensuring compliance with safeguarding standards and the comprehensive approach of the school's educational model. The school is a British international institution in the Dominican Republic, offering education from early years to 12th grade, with a diverse community of over 49 nationalities. Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology (Clinical, Educational, or related fields).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a school setting or with adolescents.
  • Experience in safeguarding and child protection.
  • Fluent English.
  • Professional license or certification (desirable).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in international educational environments.
  • Spanish (highly desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group psychological support to students.
  • Support students presenting emotional, behavioral, or mental health difficulties.
  • Design and implement well-being programs aligned with the needs of each level.
  • Monitor student well-being and proactively identify at-risk students.
  • Actively support safeguarding protocols in accordance with the guidelines of the school, Nord Anglia Education, and local regulations.
  • Intervene in crisis situations (anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, trauma, etc.).
  • Collaborate in case management with the safeguarding team and school leadership.
  • Foster skills such as self-regulation, resilience, and self-awareness.
  • Support students with academic stress, motivation, and personal development issues.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of well-being and/or PSHE programs.
  • Work closely with teachers, principals, and the administrative team.
  • Provide strategies to teachers for managing classroom situations.
  • Maintain effective communication with families regarding progress and support plans.
  • Coordinate referrals to external specialists when necessary.
  • Conduct psychological evaluations and/or screenings as applicable.
  • Maintain confidential, up-to-date records aligned with data protection regulations.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations based on interventions performed.
  • Support students in vocational guidance processes from a socio-emotional perspective.
  • Collaborate with the University Counseling team in Upper School when required.
