About The Position

Come join a growing multidisciplinary team of designers and engineers designing the next generation nuclear power plant. The PSA Engineer II will develop and maintain PRA logic models and/or supporting thermal-hydraulic analyses used to quantify risk and support design and licensing activities. Responsibilities include model development for internal and external events, sensitivity and uncertainty evaluation, and preparation of Level 1 and Level 2 results to support risk-informed decisions. Engineers with thermal-hydraulic focus will develop and apply RELAP5-3D and MELCOR models to simulate plant response for transients and accidents that inform PRA quantifications. The Engineer II will coordinate with system design engineers and participate in internal reviews to assure consistency and technical quality of PSA inputs and results. Requirements

  • B.S degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or closely related field from an accredited college or university
  • Familiarity with thermal-hydraulic behavior of light water reactors (LWRs)
  • Proficiency with one or more industry codes such as CAFTA, SAPHIRE, RiskSpectrum, RELAP5-3D, or MELCOR
  • 4-6 years o f experience in probabilistic risk assessment and/or thermal-hydraulic safety analysis for nuclear facilities
  • Familiarity with ASME/ANS PRA Standards and NRC or IAEA risk guidance
  • Ability to interpret results and communicate risk insights clearly to technical audiences
  • Excellent technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810
