About The Position

Tahoe Donner Association is looking for a Groomer II to join our Downhill Ski Resort operations! The Groomer operates heavy construction equipment and/or snow grooming equipment with attachments. This position operates heavy equipment in an efficient manner on an as needed basis and grooms trails with the objective of providing an enjoyable skiing surface for members and guests. This position knows the capability of the machinery and understands maintenance functions and gauges. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides excellent customer service to customers, employees and business partners. Maintain current knowledge, implement and enforce Association policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Maintain mountain skiing surfaces to finest level possible. Ability to learn how to operate all Slope Grooming equipment. Safe operation of a turbo-charged diesel powered over the snow vehicle with hydrostatic drives, 12-way blade, and multi-function roto tiller rear implements. Minimize down time through basic preventative maintenance, cleanliness and upkeep of machine, in conjunction with vehicle maintenance. Covers rocks and obstacles on the slopes. Moves snow from low wear areas to high wear areas. Manual labor in other slopes and trails work. Receives daily working instructions from Lead Groomer and Mountain Operations Manager. Assists with snow removal as needed. Maintain demanding mountain skiing surfaces to finest level possible, with little supervision. Grooms steep slopes by operating grooming machine with a drum winch. Builds and maintains snow covered roads on the mountain. Builds and maintains ramps and mazes at ski lifts. Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Effective communication skills, oral & written.
Strong sense of customer service & safety awareness
Able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Have a neat & clean appearance in compliance with the company grooming standards.
Punctual, able to report at scheduled start time.
Work well as part of a team.
Able to work with minimum supervision.
Must be able to work long and irregular hours.
Must be willing to work holidays and busy periods.
Ski Area Experience Requires possession of valid Class C Driver License with a driving record meeting the minimum standards required by the Association insurance carrier.
Equipment operation background and experience with diesel engine/hydraulic machines
Intermediate knowledge and troubleshooting skills grooming equipment.
These skills and abilities are typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent and the completion certificate program from a one-year college or technical school plus three year’s relevant experience and/or training with grooming/Snowcat operation experience; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.
