About The Position

Responsible for the coordination of patient care and clinic preparation in pediatric Neurosurgery. Works with various providers and services to ensure the best possible treatment and outcome for patients. Coordinates necessary patient care services with physicians, nurses, lab, radiology, pharmacy, infusion and clinics. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Business, Communication, Nursing or related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
  • Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required.
  • This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in oncology, multidisciplinary clinics, and/or working with high-acuity, complex patients may be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports physicians and nurse practitioners in an outpatient clinic setting
  • Schedules surgery
  • Rooms patients
  • Coordinates patient care
  • Directs the scheduling of patient appointments with providers and ancillary services
  • Follows patients under treatment
  • Assures that patient needs are being met and that they understand the course of their treatment.
  • Coordinates and responds to patient medical questions via phone calls.
  • Triage patient questions to the appropriate provider or service and ensure follow-through
  • Evaluates incoming referrals with physicians
  • Gathers needed medical information such as records, slides and films to assist in the evaluation of patient needs
  • Develops written protocols for communication to patients regarding treatment plans
  • Assists with the communication of the treatment plan decisions to the patient, verbally and in writing
  • Acts as a liaison with other supportive care groups (social work, financial counseling, palliative care, nutrition, etc.)
