About The Position

Job Summary Job Summary The Pediatric Cardiology Division in the University of Utah School Of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Clinical Nurse for our Adult Congenital Heart Disease ( ACHD ) program. We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse who is capable of providing excellent care to both adult and pediatric patients, with interest in congenital heart disease. The RN will assist in the management of the adult congenital clinical services for patients ranging in age from childhood to the elderly. The Pediatric Cardiology Division is based at the Primary Children’s Outpatient Services Building, just east of Primary Children’s Hospital, on the benches overlooking Salt Lake City. This position covers 3 large hospital systems as part of the program. Requirements

  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah.
  • Must maintain current Interstate Compact (multi-state) license if residency is not being changed to Utah.
  • Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Nice To Haves

  • Some positions may require additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support ( ACLS ), Pediatric Advanced Life Support ( PALS ), or Neonatal Resuscitation Program ( NRP ) within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of patient care providing follow-up care – test results communicated to patients/families.
  • addressing patient concerns/questions coming in by phone, email etc.
  • new Rx and renewals of medication, and oxygen prescriptions as well as medication pre-authorizations and Cath and EP study requests – PCH , IMC , U of U.
  • ordering and coordination of new and f/u appointments, testing, studies and obtain results coordination of referrals to other health specialties.
  • complete paperwork/write letters related to school, work, social needs, disability, physical education, parking permits, driver’s license, wheelchair and home assistance needs, cardiac clearance for procedures etc.
  • Clinic screening for all ACHD clinics
  • Review incoming referrals (when needed) to ensure ACHD /Aortopathy clinic needed.
  • Ensure screening of clinic appointments for correct testing.
  • testing ordered/scheduled, medical records/imaging from outside facilities.
  • Clinical calendar schedule management for Fellow/Resident Assignments, APP assignments and trainee Rotation letter and schedule.
  • Maintenance of accurate diagnoses and medications in patient charts for patients seen in clinic.
  • Coumadin/anticoagulation management.
  • Attendance and coordination of ACHD meetings ( CHD and Pregnancy, ACHD Procedural Meeting).
  • tracking of patients needing discussion, submission of patient review forms.
  • obtaining images on disks and getting them uploaded at UUMC .
  • submission of list of past procedure outcomes.
  • submission of procedure requests of patients discussed.
  • tracking of patients discussed.
  • maintain list of upcoming procedures.
  • Maintain a current list of inpatients, current pregnancies, weekly upcoming procedures and distribute weekly.
  • Assist in coordination of outreach clinics in St George, Pocatello, Idaho Falls.
  • Update appointments/due for follow up/testing needed/pending testing of patients seen in clinic.
