About The Position

The Provider Administrative Assistant, Pediatric Critical Care role involves assessing customer needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction. This position requires excellent communication and customer service skills, including answering and making telephone calls. The assistant will coordinate various clinical and non-clinical administrative activities for providers, such as managing schedules, lab coats, and ID badges. Responsibilities include scheduling office visits, surgical procedures, and ancillary testing according to practice guidelines. The role also ensures the completion of patient financial clearance activities, including insurance eligibility, medical necessity, and prior authorization. Additionally, the assistant will prepare and coordinate materials for meetings and interviews, handle administrative issues related to phone calls, and complete correspondence and administrative paperwork. Typing, transcribing, and processing of various documents, grant papers, and publications are also key duties, along with coordinating their timely submission. General office duties and backup support for other staff are expected, along with other departmental duties as assigned. Additional responsibilities include performing other duties as assigned, complying with all policies and standards, and adhering to specific departmental documentation. A critical aspect of the role is abiding by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients, with annual training, the UH Code of Conduct, and UH policies and procedures in place to address the appropriate use of PHI.

Requirements

  • High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
  • Experience with demonstrated problem solving ability (Required)
  • Computer skills in a Windows environment (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrate proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to achieve expected outcomes
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Basic knowledge of office equipment
  • Basic computer skills in Windows environment

Responsibilities

  • Handles a variety of administrative issues with regard to phone calls, always following through to assure all request/complaints/communications are handled in the manner appropriate.
