About The Position

Toyota’s Vehicle Prototype Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Technician. Primary responsibility of this role is to support the Prototype Body Welding process within R&D. Reporting to the Weld and Paint Manager, the person in this role will support the Vehicle Prototype department's objective to support Toyota North America Product Development and Vehicle Evaluation.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Mechatronics-Robotics and Automated Systems or equivalent work experience as a technician in Body Weld (academic programs will be considered).
• Experience in Weldment, JIG, or Fixture adjustment or have the formal education in Weldment, JIG or Fixture adjustments.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience using CAD software to manipulate vehicle data; such as CATIA, NX/Unigraphics, Creo, SolidWorks, or other similar software.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in general sheet metal fabrication.
• Commitment to the customer embracing flexibility of assignment and willingness to support in all functional roles.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using KPIs for goal setting and process management.
• Quality Circle or other problem solving (TBP).

Responsibilities

• Support the Prototype Body Welding process within R&D.
• Ensure Prototype Vehicle Quality and Delivery will meet or exceed customer requirements.
• Support equipment integration and installation (Tooling, Robots).
• Operation Plan for Welding and then rotation through all Welding stations (Under Body, Main Body, Laser Welding, etc.).
• Weld process Quality Assurance.
• Toyota Safety Management System participation.
• Solve problems and create Kaizen to support Safety, Quality, Productivity KPIs.
• Fabricate components and vehicle modification CNC support.
• Take initiative to problem solve and Kaizen while working effectively with the entire R&D team.
