About The Position

This position involves setting up and operating manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other machine tools. The machinist will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to create production tooling, completing set-ups and operating equipment with minimal supervision. Key responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions, selecting appropriate tools and machining parameters, performing in-process inspections, adjusting machine settings to maintain tolerances, troubleshooting machining issues, maintaining accurate production records, performing routine machine maintenance, and collaborating with various teams to improve processes. Compliance with safety standards, company policies, and ISO/AS quality requirements is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience, including CNC operation and setup.
  • Minimum 5 years of prototype and tolling experience or evidence of mastery
  • Proficiency with machining math, including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of materials

  • Experience with basic CNC program editing

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other machine tools.
  • Operate conventional mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, and grinders.
  • Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to create production tooling.
  • Complete set-ups and operate equipment with minimal supervisions/assistance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions.
  • Select appropriate tools, fixtures, speeds, and feeds for efficient and accurate machining.
  • Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, and other measuring devices.
  • Adjust machine settings to maintain tolerances and meet quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, including tool wear, material inconsistencies, and programming errors.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including job travelers, inspection reports, and equipment logs.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure safe, reliable operation.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes.
  • Comply with all safety standards, company policies, and ISO/AS quality requirements.
  • Other duties may be added if necessary to meet business needs.
