About The Position

As an Prototype Technician Apprentice, you’ll be part of our Prototype Manufacturing team working as an on-site employee at our Valley City, Ohio facility. You’ll get to assist Prototype Technicians in the prototype development of new and existing outdoor power equipment. You will utilize standard machine shop equipment, welding, and sheet metal fabrication equipment to prototype parts. You will operate mills, CNC controls, lathes, and metal equipment for engineering groups with prototype design projects. You will fabricate sheet metal parts using press brakes to form laser cut blanks. You will think creatively to enhance quality improvements, cost reductions, and manufacturing ideas. You will use computers and specialized programs for completing projects. You will read blueprints and create prototype parts utilizing the correct materials and tools.

Requirements

A genuine interest in hands-on mechanical work and learning new skills.
Familiarity with basic shop equipment (such as mills, lathes, or welding tools) and eagerness to develop these skills further.
Willingness to learn about CNC machines, sheet metal fabrication, and prototype assembly.
Ability to follow instructions, read basic blueprints or diagrams, and ask questions.
Clear communication skills and ability to work well with others in a team environment.
Comfortable using computers and basic software (such as Microsoft Office); open to learning new programs.
Attention to detail and pride in doing quality work.
Positive attitude and openness to feedback and coaching.
High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
Able to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks in a shop environment.

Nice To Haves

Any vocational coursework or hands-on experience is a plus.
