About The Position

The Rapid Innovation Center Machinist B plays a crucial role in providing innovative solutions to some of the most challenging machining requirements in industry that support our product development teams. This role ensures that prototypes are made accurately, efficiently and timely to aid in data collection and decision-making, enabling Milwaukee Tool to maintain its competitive advantage. As a Prototype Machinist B and member of the Rapid Innovation Center (RIC) at Milwaukee Tool, you will be responsible for creating new to the world prototypes, working with a driven team using industry leading technologies and equipment in a state of the art facility.

Requirements

  • 2-year Technical degree required or minimum 3 years experience in a related field.
  • Basic CNC programming G&M code.
  • Experience with Siemens and or Fanuc machine controls.
  • Prior experience of setting up and programming CNC equipment is required.
  • Knowledge of Solid Works, Mastercam, Tool Studio, Vector Cam or equivalent.
  • Must have R&D mindset and be able to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong proficiency in math skills is required to accurately calculate appropriate machine settings and make necessary adjustments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Haas, Mazatrol, Fanuc, Siemens, and/or other machine controls.
  • Knowledge of Solid Works, Mastercam.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of 6S Principles

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machine tools such as profile grinders, surface grinders, tool grinders, lathes, mills, stamping press, metal forming equipment, or otherwise to shape parts to engineering dimensions and finishes.
  • Apply fundamental machining knowledge machining to make necessary machine adjustments to meet engineering specifications, including speeds & feeds, machine setup and/or tooling.
  • Select and set up appropriate work holding and tooling based on job requirements and specifications, applying knowledge of machining parameters and shop mechanics.
  • Use precision inspection equipment, including hard gaging and/or vision measuring instruments to verify dimensions of first run part and finished parts ensuring compliance with print dimensions and tolerancing.
  • Review assigned work requests, blueprints or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
  • Must work effectively in team environment and is a self-starting individual willing to take initiative for personal and professional development.
