About The Position

The Prototype CNC Machinist evaluates drawing specifications to determine the work to be performed. This role involves programming, setting up, and operating all machine tools within the MTO department. The machinist will be proficient in utilizing machine controls to manipulate machine functions to produce quality products and verify conformance of finished instruments/devices to customer specifications. A strong understanding of machine tooling, calculating and setting machining factors (RPM, feed rate, coolant flow, depth of cut), and recording inspected dimensions are key aspects of this position. The role also includes completing all documentation of work performed, accurately recording time through Visual Labor tickets, inspecting parts and documenting results, maintaining a clean work area and equipment, performing required periodic maintenance on CNC equipment, adhering to company safety requirements, and assuring assigned activities are performed in accordance with Seabrook Quality System procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years related experience
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of CAD/CAM experience
  • Strong mechanical and trouble shooting ability
  • A possession of practical /technical knowledge required for the job
  • Ability to read and interpret customer drawings.
  • Ability to efficiently produce an adequate volume of work in a timely manner
  • An ability to perform tasks within a team-oriented environment
  • Working knowledge of Cam works, SolidWorks, HSM, Fusion or other 3D modeling software is a requisite.
  • Knowledge of all forms of inspection equipment. (Calipers, micrometers, micro-height, OC etc.)
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of GD&T.
  • Strong understanding of metal characteristics.
  • An ability to thoroughly produce tasks with accuracy and neatness
  • A willingness to seek out new assignments and assume additional duties when necessary
  • An ability to be relied upon for task completion and follow-up
  • An ability to perform work with little or no supervision and demonstrate proper judgment and decision-making skills when necessary
  • A willingness to be punctual, observes prescribed work periods, and have an acceptable attendance record
  • A willingness to adhere to company safety policies and regulations
  • An ability to cooperate, work and communicate with coworkers, supervisors, subordinates, and/or outside contacts

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with controls such as FANUC is a plus
  • Manual machining experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of metal forming/fabrication is a plus
