About The Position

Protocase is seeking a motivated and talented Computer Science Co-op Student from DALHOUSIE UNIVERSITY for a 16-week term. The student will work in a fast-paced, innovative environment alongside engineers, developers, and production experts, building tools and software solutions that support cutting-edge manufacturing. This is a hands-on opportunity to work on real projects that make a difference. Protocase manufactures custom electronic enclosures and sheet metal components for scientists, engineers, and innovators worldwide, utilizing a unique “ultra-lean” manufacturing system that allows for custom sheet metal projects to be built in 2–3 days with no minimum orders. The company serves over 16,000 customers globally, including prominent organizations like Boeing, NASA, IBM, Lockheed Martin, and SpaceX.

Requirements

  • Experience & understanding with Java programming or other object-oriented language.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Willingness to relocate to Sydney, NS for the duration of the co-op term.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 3D modeling and graphics would be a plus.
  • Experience with CAD software would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development, and improvement of our software tools.
  • Work with Java or other object-oriented languages to create functional, efficient code.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and solve challenges.
  • Assist with the integration of 3D modeling and graphics into our applications (if applicable).
  • Gain experience with CAD software and its applications in manufacturing.
