About The Position

Protestant Music Director should conduct music for special services of worship: 10 units. Protestant Music Director should play music for special Command Services: 5 units. Protestant Music Director should lead volunteer choirs in both Chapels: 104 units.

Requirements

  • Have a clear understanding of Navy organization and the pluralistic ministry requirements that affect the use of Chapel facilities and staff.
  • Have at least two years of piano accompanist and worship musical leadership in a contemporary Christian church.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct music for special services of worship: 10 units.
  • Play music for special Command Services: 5 units.
  • Lead volunteer choirs in both Chapels: 104 units.
  • Possess the ability to develop rapport, and promote teambuilding within the Protestant volunteer choirs, praise teams, and other choral groups.
  • Notify the Command Chaplain (or Duty Chaplain) by telephone and email between 2-3 hours ahead of scheduled time when unable to perform services due to illness, inclement weather, or emergencies.
  • Provide a pre-approved substitute when unable to perform the services required. Command Chaplain must be notified of planned substitutions two weeks in advance of arranged absences (vacations and holidays).
  • Arrive for all services no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the service.
