About The Position

This application is for a Civil Service Examination for the opportunity to be placed on an Eligible List for a future opening as a Protective Services Officer. The role is responsible for the security of Department of Public Utilities or other City of Cleveland buildings, property, records, and equipment. The officer takes immediate action to protect life and property within their jurisdiction, performs duties and works hours as designated by superiors, and assures all key assigned installations are secured from outside intrusion on a 24-hour/7-days-a-week basis.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Private Security or Peace Officer certification from the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission required.
• Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License required.
• Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• A 9mm handgun 20-hour certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assures all key assigned installations are secured from outside intrusion on a 24 hour/7 days a week basis.
• Performs other job-related duties as required.
