About The Position

The Prospect Development and Research Associate provides essential operational and research support to the development team by maintaining accurate donor data, assisting with prospect identification, and supporting research initiatives. This role ensures the integrity of the donor database, contributes to prospect pipeline development, and helps prepare data and materials that inform fundraising strategy. The position is ideal for someone detail-oriented who is developing skills in prospect research, CRM systems, and nonprofit fundraising operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience with prospect research, data entry, administrative support, or nonprofit operations preferred.
  • Interest in prospect research, fundraising, or nonprofit development.
  • Experience working with databases or data systems.
  • Ability to synthesize information into clear, concise summaries.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data management practices.
  • Demonstrate desire and ability to support organizational biblical and religious goals and participate in regular work-related spiritual activities without reservation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update donor and prospect records in Salesforce, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform data entry, record creation, and ongoing data maintenance.
  • Verify, clean, and standardize donor and prospect data to ensure data integrity.
  • Update prospect assignments, activities, and engagement records in the CRM.
  • Monitor publicly available obituaries and update donor records accordingly.
  • Track and record philanthropic giving history of prospects.
  • Conduct preliminary research on donors and prospects using public sources and internal tools.
  • Review donor activity and giving history to help identify individuals who may warrant additional research.
  • Flag individuals with potential giving capacity for further review by research staff.
  • Set up and monitor news alerts for key donors and prospects.
  • Gather background data and supporting information for prospect profiles and briefings.
  • Generate CRM reports, prospect lists, and data extracts to support fundraising initiatives.
  • Review $1,000+ gift reports and identify potential new prospects.
  • Compile lists for screenings, campaigns, and development outreach.
  • Assist in preparing data files for wealth screenings and update records with results.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support to the prospect development and research team.
  • Review activity notes to support prospect tracking and preparation.
  • Assist with briefing materials and meeting preparation.
  • Follow established procedures for prospect research and data management.
  • Support ad hoc requests from research staff and development officers.
  • Serve as backup support for the Research Associate as needed.
