Job Title: Propulsion Test Software Engineer Reporting To: Manager, Test Engineering Work Schedule: Onsite – Niagara Falls, NY Moog Space and Defense Group is projecting significant growth driven by high levels of U.S. Department of Defense spending and the thirst for human exploration. The Niagara Falls Site supplies rocket engines, propulsion systems, and propellant tanks for a variety of spacecraft, launch vehicle and strategic defense missions. We are looking for a Propulsion Test Software Engineer who will be part of the Test Engineering team, developing and maintaining data processing software and data acquisition systems. The Propulsion Test Software Engineer will work in conjunction with Project and Product Engineering to monitor, assess, trend, and update data models. In addition, the person selected for the role will help maintain LabVIEW data acquisition systems which are used throughout the facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline with minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience. Preferred Software, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Proficiency at Object Oriented Programming languages such as C++, C#, python, etc. This includes UI/UX design for usage by Engineering and Technician personnel.
  • Experience working with JIRA, or similar management tools, and source code control software such as GitHub, TortoiseSVN, or equivalent.
  • Experience using data acquisition hardware such as LabVIEW, Astromed, DEWEsoft, equivalent, or the willingness and capability to learn.
  • Experience writing software in LabVIEW, or the willingness and capability to learn.
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation such as pressure transducers, load cells, flow meters, and temperature sensors, or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills. This role will interface heavily with skilled technicians, facilities personnel, and engineering.
  • This position requires a full physical which includes bloodwork and Pulmonary Function testing
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software used for hot fire data setup, reduction and analysis.
  • Maintain existing data acquisition systems using LabVIEW, including software and hardware components.
  • Occasionally develop new data acquisition systems.
  • Provide assistance across cross-functional Engineering groups as well as Test and Instrumentation technician support.
  • Assist Test Engineering and Instrument Technicians with instrumentation setup/troubleshooting.
  • Work with Project and Product Engineering to interpret and troubleshoot data output.
