Job Overview & Responsibilities As a Propulsion Systems Engineer with ULA, this engineering function provides engineering design, systems integration, subcontract management, product technical support and anomaly resolution for the Propulsion fluids systems (cryogenic, non-cryogenic, hydraulics and pneumatics), with an emphasis in hydraulic systems (Pumps, Actuators, Accumulators, Reservoirs, etc.). This function develops sub-system and component designs and requirements to satisfy overall propulsion systems requirements. The position requires mechanical design capability as well as understanding dynamic, structural and fluids analysis concepts. Must have the capability to perform system integration and perform system level trade studies to optimize designs for manufacturing, producibility and performance. Generation of engineering drawings or changes as well as assembly and testing requirements is part of the job function. Provides direct support to the suppliers, the factory and the launch site to ensure production schedules are met, anomalies are resolved and operations are streamlined to improve efficiency. When anomalies occur, provides causal analysis that leads to effective resolution and corrective actions that prevent recurrence. Review the as-built product (hardware and associated software) and product test data to certify that the final product configuration and performance meets requirements and is ready for test and/or flight. Develops design improvements that reduce cost and risk and/or improve vehicle performance.
