About The Position

The Software Design and Release Engineer (DRE) will lead an embedded system software development project with a supplier for a Propulsion System Control Module. This role involves supporting various control modules such as Engine, BEV and HEV Supervisory controllers, High Voltage Battery controllers, DCDC Convertors, On Board Charging Modules, Motor Control Processors, and other modules that control propulsion system components. The DRE is responsible for collaborating with Tier One suppliers and internal development teams, including Base SW and Application SW developers, as well as the requirements team, to develop and integrate embedded software for advanced propulsion system components from the initial design concept through full volume production. This includes leading the planning and integration of program software requirements to meet vehicle and component level functional objectives, working cross-functionally with SW development, validation, calibration, diagnostics, FUSA, and architecture teams to manage SW release timing, and serving as the lead interface for SW issue resolution at both component and vehicle levels. The role also involves providing technical input for SW coordination and requirements alignment meetings, coordinating change management for component SW, and supporting validation, SW development, and troubleshooting as needed.
