About The Position

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. The Propulsion team is seeking a Manufacturing Functional Technician III to join the team to support production manufacturing of future flight hardware. The Propulsion Manufacturing Functional Technician III will work within the Amazon Leo Propulsion Manufacturing Team supporting the build and integration of electric propulsion subsystems, including feed systems, thrusters, cathodes, PCBAs, tanks, and the integrated propulsion system. This technician will be knowledgeable across multiple manufacturing process paths, perform troubleshooting activities, support training programs, and lead process improvement initiatives within their scope. The ideal candidate brings hands-on manufacturing experience with flight hardware and thrives in a fast-paced production environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years relevant aerospace/automotive manufacturing experience or equivalent industry experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on work experience with electro-mechanical assemblies, final integration and/or harness integration experience
  • 2+ year’s experience in a fast-paced production environment with flight hardware
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with precision torque, measurement and inspection devices (i.e., automated and manual torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, profilometers, optical inspection devices, multi-meters, etc.)
  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and working from engineering documentation and/or drawings
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Aircraft & Powerplant certification/license, automotive certifications, or other technical certifications/Associate's degree
  • Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and clean room requirements
  • Experience working with MES software packages (SAP, SFC transactions, traceability)
  • Experience with root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action processes
  • Experience contributing to or owning SOP development and process documentation
  • Experience with 6S, Kaizen, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience with PCBA inspection/rework and troubleshooting

Responsibilities

  • Perform manufacturing, assembly, and integration tasks across propulsion subsystems per engineering documentation and SOPs
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues — observing, receiving, and obtaining information from all relevant sources to assist in debug and root cause analysis
  • Perform inspections with an understanding of what is critical to quality
  • Provide mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers with feedback including tooling, consumables, debug, and process observations
  • Perform tasks including assembling first article builds, hardware inspections, and documenting discrepancies
  • May own or maintain internal team SOPs, documenting improvements and process changes
  • Help Identify training needs for the team and support training programs within the department
  • Assist in the development of new hires and peers across the department
  • Support process improvement initiatives applicable to your project scope
  • Demonstrate and may create best practices for manufacturing processes
  • Role model site safety standards and operations protocol
  • Successfully meet productivity and quality standards
  • Attempt to resolve team work blockers and general team needs
  • Utilize MES and SAP systems for production tracking, traceability, and work order documentation
  • Attend all relevant technical trainings offered by the organization
