About The Position

Performs property tax research to solve complex problems associated with most functions in the assessment and collection of ad valorem taxes. This role involves carrying out assessment and collection functions related to property tax billing and payments, delinquent payments, bankruptcy payments, special and rollback calculations and payments, and refunds and tax account research. The specialist will extensively communicate and interact with other tax office and appraisal district staff, businesses, title and mortgage companies, and individual taxpayers to perform duties. They will also resolve tax problems in person or over the phone, research tax questions and provide appropriate responses, and answer questions from clerks. The role requires responsibility for accurate files and filing, ensuring the accuracy of funds collected and posting of transactions to accounts, and accountability for funds collected. Responsibilities may rotate on a routine basis, and all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years of general office or retail experience

  • Experience with electronic payment processing
  • Knowledge of credit card and e-check processing
  • Experience with business machines
  • Experience with computers
  • Basic business math is desired
  • Knowledge of property tax processing is desired
