Primary job duties include: Reviewing, examining, and processing property tax exempt applications to ensure compliance Providing customer service to taxpayers, taxpayer representatives, or county representatives Reviewing correspondence concerning denials and requests for additional information Reviewing customer accounts to verify receipt and status of applications Assisting taxpayers navigating MyDORWAY to submit applications, removing previously exempted real/personal property, and checking application status

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and one of the following: Experience in accounting, auditing, or bookkeeping
  • A bachelor's degree that included multiple accounting courses
  • Current enrollment in a business-related degree program

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing customer service in a call center or high-volume telephone environment
  • An associate's degree or higher and experience in accounting, auditing, or bookkeeping
  • Tax-related experience
  • Working knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices
  • Effective written and oral communication skills with internal and external customers
  • Customer service skills in line with SCDOR standards to provide professional and courteous service
  • Experience with property taxation, vehicle taxation, tax exemptions, tax preparation, accounting, auditing, or financial analysis
