About The Position

We have an immediate opening for a Property Tax Consultant specializing in the valuation and appeal of commercial real estate assets. WHAT YOU’LL DO: As a core member of our Commercial Real Estate Services team, you will manage the full property tax cycle for a portfolio of income-producing and owner-occupied commercial properties. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field required
  • 3+ years of property tax appraisal, consulting, or commercial real estate valuation experience required
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated financial analysis experience, ideally in a consulting or appraisal environment
  • Working knowledge of core commercial real estate finance concepts — NOI, cap rates, DCF, lease structures, and market comparables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you can explain complex valuation positions clearly to any audience
  • High attention to detail with a deadline-driven mindset
  • Genuine curiosity and a willingness to keep learning as markets and methods evolve
  • Ability to travel as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with IAAO standards and state-specific assessment appeal procedures a plus
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with argus or property tax software a plus

Responsibilities

  • Valuing complex commercial real estate assets — including office, retail, industrial, multifamily, and mixed-use properties — using income, cost, and sales comparison approaches
  • Negotiating assessments with appraisal districts and assessment offices to achieve optimal outcomes for clients
  • Conducting financial analysis and modeling to support valuation positions, including income capitalization, discounted cash flow, and comparable sales analysis
  • Preparing and presenting well-reasoned written arguments, appeals, and hearing testimony
  • Analyzing rent rolls, operating statements, and lease abstracts to develop income approach valuations
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with senior consultants and client teams to develop appeal strategy
  • Managing filing deadlines, hearing schedules, and deliverables across a dynamic client portfolio with precision and urgency
  • Maintaining current knowledge of local real estate market trends, assessment practices, and applicable statutes
