About The Position
Abode Money is a fast-growing technology company dedicated to helping homeowners save on the financial aspects of homeownership. With tens of thousands of homeowners on our platform, we're expanding into New York and seeking an experienced Property Tax Advisor to guide our team through the regulatory and operational landscape. This is an hourly, contract-based consulting role—ideal for an expert in New York’s property tax protest system who can serve as a trusted guide during the early stages of our market entry. If interested, there’s potential for this position to evolve into a long-term partnership as we expand our property tax offerings in New York. We’re partnered with leading home financial services organizations, including USAA, Lemonade, Compass, Nerdwallet, CreditKarma, Monarch Money, Consumer Reports, Thumbtack, and many more.
Requirements
- Have direct experience in New York’s property tax system—through your own practice, an established firm, or a governmental office.
- Possess deep knowledge of county-level procedures, deadlines, and regulations, especially in the five largest counties.
- Combine innovative problem-solving with a strong commitment to regulatory compliance.
- Are available to consult on an as-needed, hourly basis via phone or Zoom.
Responsibilities
- Clarifying New York statutes, administrative processes, and compliance requirements for property tax protests.
- Advising on local nuances and requirements for the largest counties in New York.
- Guiding us through petition filing procedures (TRIM notices, deadlines, evidence), including online vs. paper submission requirements.
- Sharing best practices on hearing processes and effective protest preparation.
