About The Position

With tens of thousands of users on their platform, they are expanding into Illinois, specifically Cook County, and are seeking an experienced Property Tax Advisor to guide their team through the regulatory and operational landscape. This is an hourly, contract-based consulting role, ideal for an expert in Illinois’ property tax protest system who can serve as a trusted guide during the initial stages of market entry. There is potential for this opportunity to evolve into a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership as Abode Money expands its property tax solutions in Illinois. The company partners with leading home financial services organizations including USAA, Lemonade, Compass, Nerdwallet, CreditKarma, Monarch Money, Consumer Reports, and Thumbtack.

Requirements

• Direct experience in Illinois’ property tax system—through your own practice, an established firm, or a government office.
• Deep knowledge of county-level procedures, deadlines, and regulations, especially for Cook County.
• An innovative thinker who combines creative problem-solving with a strong commitment to regulatory compliance.
• Available to consult on an as-needed, hourly basis via phone or Zoom.

Responsibilities

• Clarifying Illinois statutes, administrative processes, and compliance obligations for property tax protests.
• Advising on local nuances for major counties, with a focus on Cook County.
• Guiding through how and when to file petitions (e.g., TRIM notices, deadlines, evidence), and explaining requirements for online vs. paper submissions.
• Sharing best practices on the hearing process and effective protest preparation.
