About The Position

Abode Money is a rapidly growing technology company focused on helping homeowners save on the financial aspects of homeownership. With a large user base, the company is expanding into Oregon and is seeking an experienced Property Tax Appeals Advisor. This role is an hourly, contract-based consulting position, ideal for an expert in Oregon's property tax protest system. The advisor will guide the Abode Money team through the regulatory and operational requirements of this new market during its early phase of entry. There is potential for this role to develop into a long-term partnership as the company expands its property tax offerings in Oregon, collaborating with partners like USAA, Lemonade, Compass, Nerdwallet, CreditKarma, Monarch Money, Consumer Reports, and Thumbtack. The mission is to make homeownership more affordable, and this expertise is vital for responsible expansion into new states, ensuring a robust and compliant foundation. This is a flexible, high-impact opportunity without requiring a full-time commitment.

Requirements

  • Have direct experience in Oregon’s property tax system—through your own practice, an established firm, or a government office.
  • Possess deep knowledge of county-level procedures, deadlines, and regulations, especially in Oregon’s five largest counties.
  • Combine innovative thinking with a strong commitment to regulatory compliance.
  • Are available to consult on an as-needed, hourly basis via phone or Zoom.

Responsibilities

  • Clarifying Oregon statutes, administrative processes, and compliance requirements related to property tax protests.
  • Advising on local nuances and requirements for major Oregon counties.
  • Guiding the team on petition filing, timelines (TRIM notices, deadlines, evidence submissions), and differences between online/paper processes.
  • Offering best practices for navigating hearings and preparing effective property tax protests.
