About The Position
Abode Money is a rapidly growing technology company focused on helping homeowners save on the financial aspects of homeownership. Expanding into Florida, the company is seeking an experienced Property Tax Appeals Advisor to provide guidance on regulatory and operational requirements during its initial market entry. This is an hourly, contract-based consulting role for an expert in Florida’s property tax appeals system. The advisor's expertise will be crucial during the launch phase, with potential for the position to evolve into a deeper partnership as Abode Money develops its property tax product in Florida. The company currently collaborates with major home financial services brands.
Requirements
- Have direct experience in the Florida property tax ecosystem—whether through your own practice, an established firm, or government office.
- Possess deep knowledge of county-level procedures, deadlines, and rules, especially in Florida’s five largest counties.
- Demonstrate innovative thinking while adhering to all local statutes and regulations surrounding property tax appeals.
- Are available for consulting on an as-needed, hourly basis via phone or Zoom.
Responsibilities
- Clarifying Florida statutes, administrative processes, and compliance obligations relevant to property tax protests.
- Giving practical guidance on local requirements in key counties—including Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Hillsborough, and Orange.
- Coaching the team on petition filing strategies—including TRIM notices, deadlines, evidence requirements, and online vs. paper submissions.
- Sharing best practices for navigating the value adjustment board (VAB) process and preparing effective protests.
