About The Position
The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior. Green River Correctional Complex is seeking applicants for a Purchasing Officer II to work within the Fiscal office at the institution.
Requirements
- High School Graduate
- Two years of experience in the inventory, control, sales or disposal, or acquisition of property, or a related field.
- Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
Responsibilities
- Develops and issues request for quotes to vendors.
- Researches and creates requisitions for goods and non-professional services when the expenditures amount exceeds the agency's small purchase authority.
- Coordinates with various departments for input to the contract requests.
- Creates delivery orders and purchase order for purchases.
- Completes purchase orders, receives approval and forwards approved purchase orders to vendor for processing.
- Reviews request for local purchases by phone in in writing, authorizes such purchases in accordance with the model procurement code.
