About The Position

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior. The Property Officer II at the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex is responsible for performing duties in the inventory, control and sales of property for the institution.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Two years of experience in the inventory, control, sales or disposal, or acquisition of property, or a related field.
  • Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Account for property by physical inspection, tagging, or marking and data processing control.
  • Maintain an inventory of property location, value, transfer, sale or disposal.
  • Maintain surplus property in include providing acquisitions and disposal and relocating items for storage as needed.
  • Return and track property that is defective upon arrival for repair or replacement.
  • Measure staff for uniforms and submits purchase request for uniform order.
  • Destroy of unserviceable items appropriately.
  • Clean and store inmate uniforms.
  • Update employee database as changes occur.
  • Assist warehouse supervisor as needed.
