About The Position

MMS Group is seeking an experienced affordable housing Property Manager for a 194-unit residential property located in Newark, NJ. Property Managers are responsible for the overall operational and financial success of residential properties. They manage and develop team members for personal and professional growth to ensure high employee job satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Three+ years of residential multifamily property management or real estate management experience as a Property Manager.
  • Minimum two years of affordable housing experience.
  • Associate degree in Marketing and/or Business, preferred.
  • Experience with project-based Section 8, LIHTC, and other affordable housing programs and experience in Section 8 voucher submission, tax-credit.
  • LIHTC Certification, preferred
  • Experience with RealPage OneSite or similar property management software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the property.
  • Collect rent and other property fees from residents promptly.
  • Address resident concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Partner with the maintenance team to preserve affordable housing through preventive maintenance, timely repairs, and a highly organized make-ready process.
  • Work with your Regional Manager and corporate office to prepare and follow an operating budget, planning for community capital improvements, repairs, contract developments, and negotiations.
  • Handle all accounting functions associated with the property, including processing invoices, managing evictions, and overseeing resident accounts and charges.
  • Hire, train, and supervise site staff to ensure high performance.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to maintain standards.
  • Complete income verification to ensure eligibility with government regulations.
  • Perform other duties as outlined in the job description.
