About The Position

We are looking for a Property Maintenance candidate following a recent transition within the role. The Property Maintenance supports the day-to-day operation of our commercial property portfolio. Working independently across multiple sites, you will complete scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance, respond to service calls, perform approved minor repairs, and recognize when an issue requires Property Manager approval or a qualified contractor. Clear communication, sound judgment, and accurate follow-through are essential to success in this role.

Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Practical knowledge of commercial building maintenance, basic plumbing and carpentry repairs, inspections, hazard recognition, and safe tool use.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and sound judgment about when to repair, secure, or escalate an issue.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and travel between multiple properties.
  • Clear, respectful communication and accurate, timely documentation.
  • Basic computer and mobile-device skills, including email, photographs, electronic forms, and maintenance reporting.
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of relevant building, property, facilities, construction, or general maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Certificate, apprenticeship, or coursework in building maintenance, facilities operations, construction, or a related trade.
  • Knowledge of fire and life-safety systems, automatic doors, generators, roof and drainage conditions, grounds care, snow-removal services, or preventative-maintenance practices.
  • Experience supporting multiple properties and prioritizing competing service requests.

Responsibilities

  • Complete scheduled building inspections and recurring preventative-maintenance activities across assigned commercial properties.
  • Inspect accessible common areas, lighting, plumbing fixtures, doors, roofs, storage areas, and other building components; identify and report deficiencies promptly.
  • Respond to service calls and urgent maintenance issues, take reasonable steps to secure unsafe conditions, and escalate risks appropriately.
  • Perform approved minor plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance repairs within your demonstrated competency, training, and authority.
  • Monitor routine checks and service conditions, including generators, fire and life-safety observations, cleaning, grounds maintenance, and snow removal, without acting as the qualified inspector.
  • Provide approved contractors with safe site access and practical building information, and report concerns about contracted work to the Property Manager.
  • Maintain organized tools, supplies, materials, and storage areas.
  • Prepare accurate monthly building reports and maintain inspection records, photographs, service notes, inventory information, and follow-up documentation.
  • Plan efficient travel and prioritize scheduled work, urgent requests, and outstanding maintenance items across multiple properties.
  • Communicate professionally with Property Managers, tenants, occupants, vendors, visitors, and emergency responders.

Benefits

  • Flexible work arrangements.
  • Company events, learning sessions, and leadership opportunities that make work meaningful.
