Property Maintenance Professional (Handyperson)

Human AgencySt. Louis, MO
Onsite

About The Position

Human Agency owns residential property in St. Louis and is expanding its client footprint in the market. This role is for someone who takes ownership of every property they touch and treats it like their own. This is not a call-center-dispatched maintenance gig. You'll be the first person contacted, the one who catches problems before they become expensive, and the face of Human Agency to tenants and partners. As a small operation in St. Louis, there is room to grow with the company as it expands its portfolio and property relationships. The ideal candidate can diagnose plumbing issues, hang a door, coordinate contractors when necessary, and provide clear updates to ownership.

Requirements

  • Proven hands-on experience in general property maintenance, facilities work, or a skilled trade.
  • Competency across multiple trades: basic plumbing, electrical troubleshooting, carpentry, drywall repair, painting, and general exterior maintenance.
  • Understanding of scope limitations, knowing when to use licensed contractors for specialized work.
  • Comfortable using a smartphone and basic apps for communication, photo documentation, and task management.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel across the St. Louis area.
  • Ability to source and vet local contractors and vendors independently.
  • Track record of reliability and follow-through on tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Treats other people's property as if it were their own.
  • Proactive communicator, informing ownership of delays, cost changes, or unexpected issues.
  • Observant and proactive in identifying and addressing potential maintenance issues.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, viewing the role as an opportunity for growth with the company.
  • Self-starter, capable of managing tasks independently without constant supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs across St. Louis residential properties to maintain excellent condition year-round.
  • Handle a wide range of general maintenance tasks including plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, appliance troubleshooting, and exterior upkeep.
  • Identify when a job requires a licensed specialist, source the right contractor, obtain quotes, and manage the work through to completion on behalf of ownership.
  • Serve as a responsive, professional point of contact for maintenance requests, ensuring quick resolution and clear communication with tenants.
  • Maintain clear records of completed work, ongoing issues, costs, and upcoming maintenance needs for ownership.
  • Take on expanded responsibilities and help establish scalable systems as Human Agency adds more properties in the St. Louis market.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
