About The Position

ARMStrong Insurance Services is a leading provider of debt recovery and financial solutions, operating several specialized companies including Brown & Joseph, Paragon, SubroIQ, and NEIS. SubroIQ is seeking a Property & Casualty Litigation Attorney to join their growing team. This role involves the direct handling of large dollar Property and Workers Compensation files, encompassing both the investigation of large losses and managing them to conclusion. The attorney will also investigate complex/critical events for subrogation potential, which may involve hiring external experts, conducting interviews, gathering supporting documents, and making client recommendations. Expense management for these files is also a key responsibility, aiming for prompt and equitable conclusions within client settlement guidelines. The attorney will ensure maximum legal recovery through contact with all involved parties.

Requirements

  • One or more active law licenses.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience within the insurance industry.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven negotiation ability.
  • Good working knowledge of tort law and civil procedure.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to appropriately and professionally represent clients in settlement negotiations and conferences.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Strong motivation and desire to maximize results for clients.
  • Ability to be creative in formulating arguments to maximize recovery results.

Responsibilities

  • Direct handling of large dollar Property and Workers Compensation files.
  • Investigation of large losses and management of files to conclusion.
  • Investigation of complex/critical events for subrogation potential, requiring in-depth analysis.
  • Hiring of external investigation services (e.g., cause & origin expert).
  • Conducting telephone interviews with all parties involved.
  • Obtaining supporting documents to provide a theory of liability.
  • Making recommendations to clients.
  • Management of expenses on files to prompt and equitable conclusion.
  • Handling large/complex files to conclusion within settlement guidelines.
  • Contacting all parties involved in the file to ensure maximum legal recovery.
  • Serving as the point of contact for clients on assigned files.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of all relevant State and Federal law.
  • Reviewing files to identify legal theories of subrogation or right of recovery.
  • Sending appropriate letters on all new events.
  • Applying proper file handling procedures in accordance with Best Practices, Compliance, and Quality Assurance standards.
  • Maintaining up-to-date file documentation of claim status and any pending litigation.
  • Resolving all files for maximum recovery value through advanced negotiation techniques.
  • Producing settlement screens on all resolved events in accordance with Best Practices for File Handling.
  • Drafting or generating settlement documents needed to conclude payment and closure of files.
  • Keeping clients informed about the progress of each claim.
