We are looking for a fixed term Property Account to cover a period of maternity leave. Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the Property Accountant is a key member of the Accounting team and responsible for the full cycle accounting of a 31-unit hotel and a 77-unit long term accommodation in Revelstoke BC. The Property Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of the monthly financials and is the direct line of communication between Basecamp and the vacation rental owners.

Requirements

  • Be familiar with the operation and programming of the QuickBooks accounting system.
  • Hold a business administration degree with accounting major or accountant of finance diploma.
  • 5 years or experience in related accounting field.
  • Sound understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Record all financial transactions including revenue and expenses
  • Prepare journal entries and adjust accounts as needed
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements
  • Ensure payables are recorded and process payments
  • Reconcile revenue monthly
  • Ensure revenue is being properly allocated between units
  • Reconcile inter-company transactions monthly
  • Prepare any accommodation related tax remittances
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for 31 units, work closely with Controllers to finalize statements
  • Be in regular contact with owners and their accountants, sending the monthly reports each month by the 15th
  • Respond to any questions or concerns owners may have regarding their financials, tax or general questions about their unit
  • Keep a good rapport with owners, ensuring a positive owner experience
  • Prepare Year End Files
  • Help with any Audits
  • Other duties as requested
